Ioversol is a new type of low-osmotic non-ionic contrast agent containing triiodine. After intravascular injection, due to the high iodine content, X-rays are attenuated, and the blood vessels passing through can be imaged clearly until diluted. After rapid intravenous injection, the iodine concentration in the blood peaked immediately, followed by a rapid decline within 5 to 10 minutes, and reached equilibrium with the extracellular space at 20 minutes. 15 to 120 seconds after intravenous injection, the contrast between normal and abnormal tissues is enhanced to the greatest extent, so dynamic CT scanning 30 to 90 seconds after injection can improve the enhancement effect and diagnostic efficiency.

Ioversol is mainly used for various vascular radiography examinations, including: cerebral angiography, peripheral arteriography, visceral artery, renal artery and aorta angiography, cardiovascular angiography including coronary angiography, arterial and venous digital subtraction vessels imaging etc. Intravenous excretory urography and contrast-enhanced CT scans of the head and body.
