Uridine monophosphate (UMP), also known as 5'-uridylic acid (conjugate base uridylate), is a nucleotide that is used as a monomer in RNA. It is an ester of  nucleoside uridine. UMP consists of the phosphate group, the pentose sugar ribose, and the nucleobase uracil; hence, it is a ribonucleoside monophosphate. As a substituent or radical its name takes the form of the prefix uridylyl-. The deoxy form is abbreviated dUMP.

Uridine is the phosphate ester of uridine. Depending on the site of attachment, there are uridine 2'-phosphate (2'-uridylic acid), uridine 3'-phosphate (3'-uridylic acid), and uridine 5'-phosphate (5'-uridylic acid) three. In vivo it is usually uridine 5'-phosphate. The data show that in sow milk, whether it is in the early, middle or late lactation period, the proportion of uridylic acid in the total nucleotides in the milk has an absolute advantage, and its value can even reach more than 90% of the total nucleotides. In addition, after comparing the nucleotide content in the piglet feed and the sow's late lactation milk, it was found that among the five nucleotides, the piglet feed was the most deficient in uridylic acid, while the other nucleotides lacked the most. little or no lack. Therefore, if the content of nucleotides in pig milk represents the requirement of nucleotides in piglets, it can be concluded that among the five nucleotides, piglets are the most deficient in uridylic acid.

It is used as nucleic acid drug intermediates, health food and biochemical reagents, and used in the manufacture of uridine triphosphate, polyadenosine, fluorotroxil and other drugs
