Cefmandole sodium is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with strong bactericidal effect. It has some advantages of the first and third-generation cephalosporins. The antibacterial activity of cefamandole sodium is only 1/10 to 1/5 of that of cefamandol, and cefamandole sodium is rapidly hydrolyzed into cefamandol when it enters the body, so the antibacterial effects of the two in vivo are basically the same. Cefmandole has a strong antibacterial effect on most gram-positive cocci, and its activity is similar to that of cefotaxime and cefazolin. Enterococcus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus are resistant to this product. This product has a good effect on diphtheria bacillus and gram-positive anaerobic bacteria (anaerobic coccus and clostridium spp), and has a higher activity against Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae. Cefotaxime and cefazolin are strong, and some Enterobacter aerogenes, indole-positive Proteus and Pruvidian are all sensitive to this product. Salmonella typhi, Shigella, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis are also very sensitive to this product, and have poor antibacterial effect on Bacteroides fragilis. Serratia, Alcaligenes, Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are resistant to this product. Its mechanism of action is to combine with penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell membrane, acylate transpeptidase, inhibit the synthesis of bacterial septum and cell wall, affect the cross-linking of cell wall mucopeptide components, and inhibit cell division and growth. The bacterial morphology grows and eventually dissolves and dies. The chemical name of cefamandole sodium is 7-D-(2-formyloxyphenylacetamide)-3-[(1-methyl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl)mercaptomethyl]-3-cephem- 4-Carboxylic acid sodium salt, suitable for lung infection, urinary tract infection, biliary tract infection, skin and soft tissue infection, bone and joint infection, sepsis, abdominal infection, etc. caused by sensitive bacteria.
