Cetilistat is a new type of pancrelipase inhibitor for the treatment of obesity in diabetic and non-diabetic patients,A long-acting and potent specific gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor, which plays a therapeutic effect by forming a covalent bond with the active serine site of gastric lipase and pancreatic lipase in the stomach and small intestine to inactivate the enzyme. The enzymes of Living cannot hydrolyze the fat in food, mainly triglycerides into absorbable free fatty acids and monoacylglycerols. Undigested triglycerides cannot be absorbed by the body, thereby reducing caloric intake and controlling weight.

This medicine is classified as a lipase inhibitor and it works directly on the digestive system where it blocks the action of a lipolytic enzyme called lipase.
