White or off-white crystalline powder, odorless or slightly odorous. Slightly soluble in water, the solubility in water is 1.2% (20℃), slightly soluble in ethanol; almost insoluble in chloroform and ether; easily soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid or dilute sodium hydroxide solution. It is stable at room temperature, crystallizes when cooled, and partially converted to 5-fluorouracil when heated.

5-Fluorocytosine (5-FC), also known as flucytosine, 5-fluorocytidine, Anchor, and Alla spray, is a white or off-white crystalline powder. The inhibitory effect of 5-fluorocytosine on fungi is that it enters into the cells of sensitive fungi, and under the action of cytosine deaminase, it removes the amino group to form an antimetabolite-5-fluorouracil. The latter is converted into 5-fluorouracil deoxynucleoside and inhibits thymidine synthase, blocks the conversion of uridine deoxynucleoside into thymidine, and affects DNA synthesis. It has a good inhibitory effect on Candida, Cryptococcus and Geotrichum, and also has an effect on some Aspergillus, as well as branch spores and bottle fungi that cause dermatomycosis.

In addition to being an antibacterial drug, 5-flucytosine is also the main intermediate for the preparation of capecitabine. Capecitabine can inhibit cell division and interfere with RNA and protein synthesis. It is an antimetabolite fluoropyrimidine deoxynucleoside carbamate that can be converted into 5-FU in the body. It is mainly used to treat colorectal tumors and colon tumors. , pancreatic tumors, metastatic breast cancer and other tumor diseases.

Blood counts should be checked regularly during medication. Patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency and blood diseases and pregnant women should use it with caution; patients with severe renal insufficiency should not use it.
