Cefaclor is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with similar antibacterial effects to cephalexin. It has good antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, hemolytic and viridans Streptococcus, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It also has strong antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Proteus mirabilis.

White powder. Soluble in water, insoluble in methanol, chloroform and benzene. The solution is stable at pH 2.5-4.5.
